The Known is finite, the unknown infinite; intellectually we stand on an islet in the midst of an illimitable ocean of inexplicability. Our business in every generation is to reclaim a little more land.  -T.H. Huxley, 1887

This is a pretty simple project. A large hot wire cutter is made from a broken electric guitar e string. I built an metal frame to hold the wire tight. A screw is used to adjust the wire tightness. It is important that the frame does not conduct electricity as we want it all to go through the wire.

Pumping 1.7A through this wire at 11.1V did the trick. It works great. I have used it to cut large sections of foam.
